Family fun, festive vibes, and movies under the stars this Easter long weekend

As the dry season whispers its arrival, the Darwin Waterfront is set to come alive this Easter with a jam-packed long weekend of festivities that promises something for everyone. From bouncing castles to beachside picnics, movie nights to Easter egg hunts, the Waterfront will be a hive of activity for locals and visitors alike.

The highlight of the weekend lands on Easter Saturday, with the Waterfront delivering Darwin’s largest family Easter celebration. Two dedicated Easter egg hunt sessions—one in the morning and another in the evening—ensure every child has the chance to take part.

The morning session, running from 9am to 1pm, is designed to be a high-sensory experience full of colour and excitement, while the 5pm hunt caters to children who prefer a low-sensory environment.

Families can also look forward to meeting the Easter Bunny, enjoying a morning of craft activities and entertainment, jumping castles, a petting zoo, and face painting.

As the sun begins to set, the energy continues with a Bunny Disco at 5:30pm followed by a screening of Peter Rabbit under the stars at 7pm.

Easter Sunday and Monday – Sunset Movies and Chill Vibes

From 4pm on both Sunday and Monday, the Peninsula Lawns will transform into a laid-back space for families to unwind. The kids can let off steam on the jumping castles before everyone settles in with takeaway dinners and picnic blankets for another round of movie nights at 7pm.

Whether it’s a spontaneous outing or part of a well-planned weekend, the atmosphere will be relaxed, family-friendly, and festive. The Beach Club furniture returns just in time for Easter too – inviting everyone to sink into a shady spot and enjoy the occasion.

Beyond the scheduled entertainment, the Darwin Waterfront precinct will be a hive of activity with long weekend energy. Families can cool off in the wave pool, chill in the beach lagoon, or take on the adventure of the Aqua Park. (SAVE 20% OFF AT AQUA PARK when booking online with the Code ‘savvykids’)

With more than 20 cafes and restaurants within the precinct, it’s the perfect place to grab a coffee, share a meal, or enjoy a cold beverage between activities.
