One of the Top End’s favourite swimming holes has re-opened for the Dry Season.
It’s official – Berry Springs is open for swimming and welcoming back locals and tourists for another sensational dry season in the Top End!
Just a short 45-minute drive from Darwin, Berry Springs Nature Park is one of the Territory’s most-loved natural escapes, drawing in more than 180,000 visitors each year. With its crystal-clear spring-fed pools shaded by lush monsoon forest, it’s the perfect place to cool off, float the day away, or laze by the water with a picnic lunch or BBQ.

This year, the reopening comes with safety upgrades and the all-clear from NT Parks and Wildlife. Rangers have completed extensive crocodile surveys, installed croc deterrent fencing, tested the water quality, updated safety signage and even added a new defibrillator onsite to ensure your visit is as safe as it is serene.
Minister for Tourism and Hospitality Marie-Clare Boothby says the reopening signals the start of what’s set to be a bumper tourist season.
“Berry Springs is more than just a swimming hole – it’s a slice of Territory lifestyle and an important part of our visitor economy,” she said. “Whether you’re swimming, birdwatching, bushwalking or simply soaking in the atmosphere, it’s a must-do for both locals and tourists.”

Located near the popular Berry Springs Tavern and just down the road from Territory Wildlife Park, it’s the ultimate day trip for families, friends, and travellers chasing an authentic Top End experience.
So pack the esky, grab your swimmers, and pack the car for a day trip to Berry Springs.
Top Tips to Remember:
Pack your pool toys or noodles to float downstream – the Kiosk also has swimming noodles to buy or hire.
Berry Springs is a glass free zone so no bottles and don’t forget to put your rubbish in the bin or even better – leave no trace and take your rubbish with you at the end of your visit.
While your pets are cute, please leave them at home – pets are not permitted in the park.
Beware of theft, lock your vehicles and secure your valuables.
