With ROC NT | Featuring Boomerang House

Tropical homes with soul, craftsmanship with purpose, and a building journey that feels personal from day one – this is the ethos of ROC NT, a proudly local construction company redefining residential building experiences in Darwin.

Founded by Richard Oliver, ROC NT is an energetic, forward-thinking business, born from a deep love of architecture and a mission to raise the standard of homebuilding in the Top End.

“Each project is an investment to our success and determined by the great people we work with daily.” says Richard

Founder of ROC NT Richard Oliver

The story began in 2009 when Richard stepped into the industry as a carpenter. By 2013, he and his partner Paula had moved their growing business to Darwin to “chase the sunshine” and they found far more than that. The relaxed lifestyle, coastal beauty, and community spirit inspired them to put down roots, raise a family and launch ROC NT in 2019.

With a focus on quality over quantity, Richard and the team take on only a select number of projects at a time, ensuring every client receives the care, detail and collaboration their home deserves. “We start and finish with the details that matter.” says Richard.

From concept to turnkey delivery, ROC NT creates homes that reflect the unique needs of Darwin living – blending function, form, and a strong appreciation for architectural design suited to the tropics.

Richard’s philosophy is simple yet impactful: building is about relationships. Whether it’s the initial concept meeting or the final walk-through, his team builds trust as solidly as they lay foundations.

“Our focus is to constantly exceed expectation, deliver exceptional quality, service and long-lasting relationships within the Darwin residential market.”

A signature of ROC NT’s approach is its transparent and forward-thinking quoting process, which gives clients the confidence to explore creative possibilities without fear of unexpected budget blowouts. It’s this honesty and innovation that continues to set the business apart.

This commitment to craftsmanship and client care hasn’t gone unnoticed. In 2022, ROC NT was awarded the Master Builders Award for Alteration or Addition over $400k and featured on national TV in Australia’s Best Home for their stunning β€˜Troppo House’ – a love letter to Darwin’s tropical climate and laid-back lifestyle.

“Sharing the passion and vision together whilst building strong relationships is what we believe is the key to the success of a referral-based construction business such as ours.”

From bespoke architectural materials to smart designs that celebrate airflow and natural light, ROC NT homes are as practical as they are beautiful – each one built with pride, integrity, and a genuine love for the Territory way of life.
