Step into the Heart of Thailand – Right Here in Darwin!

Get ready to splash, taste, cheer, and celebrate as the Thailand Grand Festival is back for 2025! Mark your calendars for this Saturday, 26 April as Civic Park (13 Harry Chan Ave, Darwin City) transforms into a bustling hub of Thai culture, colour and community from 11am to 10pm.

This family-friendly cultural celebration is your chance to experience the vibrant spirit of Thailand, without leaving the Top End. From spicy street food to traditional crafts and exciting Muay Thai fights – there really will be something for everyone.

Morning Fun from 11am

Kick things off with a bang (and a bite!) with the Thai Chili-Eating Contest and the zesty Paw Paw Salad-Making Competition. Enjoy live musical performances and hands-on activities the whole family will love. From fruit carving demos and a Thai Chicken Curry Puff workshop to kids’ colouring corners and cultural showcases.

Water Play Zone from 2pm

No Songkran celebration is complete without a splash! The afternoon brings on the Wet Zone, where water games take centre stage. Tug of War, friendly challenges and plenty of soak-worthy fun await. Bring a towel, sunscreen and a change of clothes – things are guaranteed to get wild!

Grand Parade & Night Festivities from 5pm

As the sun begins to set, the energy kicks up a notch. The Grand Parade will dazzle with traditional Thai costumes, music and dance. As the beats roll on, explore a world of flavour at the Thai-inspired food stalls, or unwind with a crisp beverage at the Thai Beer Garden.

Thailand Grand Cup – Muay Thai Championship from 8.30pm

Cap off the night with a high-octane showdown at the Thailand Grand Cup. Featuring four thrilling Muay Thai bouts, the championship will see skilled fighters battle it out for glory and bragging rights. Get ready to cheer loud and proud!

Celebrating Culture & Community

Minister for Major Events Marie-Clare Boothby says the festival is a celebration of everything that makes the Territory special:

“The Thailand Grand Festival brings people together and highlights the Northern Territory’s rich multiculturalism, while delivering real community and economic benefits,” said Ms Boothby.

“It’s events like this that enhance our Top End lifestyle, support local businesses and inject energy into our city — in fact, the festival has contributed over $1 million to the economy in past years.”

Whether you’re here for the food, the culture, or the adrenaline, the Thailand Grand Festival 2025 promises a day to remember. Entry is free, so bring the whole family and join the fun.
