Life Of The Party

Meet the team creating perfect moments and lifelong memories for Territorians.

What makes a party one to remember? “A bloody good theme,” says Rusha Harper-Ceylani, while supervising the delivery of a tuk-tuk at her Winnellie warehouse in anticipation of the Thailand Grand Festival later in the year. “It’s all about the wow factor.”

At All About Party Hire and Events, the “wow factor” comes straight from the imagination of Rusha. “I’ve just been given the theme of ‘Wonderland’ for the Great Humpty Ball [in June] and my mind is in overdrive,” reveals Rusha, who has been running All About Party Hire for three years now and is excited to be expanding operations further south to Alice Springs and Uluru. “Across the Territory, we’re your one-stop party shop; it’s our job to make your special occasions special.”

Here’s how: with a team of seven full-time staff, a 540-square-meter warehouse, 500 disco balls, an entire room full of chandeliers, and the aforementioned tuk-tuk. From intimate baby showers to grand charity balls and luxury weddings, Rusha and her team cater to events of all sizes and styles.

“We have all the equipment, suppliers, decorations, and – yes – disco balls to deliver quality events, but most importantly, we have the care factor. We care deeply and will do whatever it takes to make sure our clients’ day is perfect,” reveals Rusha, who was still event-managing a wedding at 41-weeks pregnant last year. “My kids and my partner Tom are my drive,” she says of her family, with sons who are eight months and seven years old. “I want them to go to Candy Cane Lane and be proud to know that their mum did that.”

Rusha’s drive runs deep. At just seven, her eldest child Bertie has undergone 10 brain surgeries. Having spent considerable time in a Melbourne hospital with her son, Rusha has witnessed the essential work of charities like the Starlight Foundation and CareFlight, whose major fundraising events are the Star Ball and Hangar Ball, respectively.

“We really put everything into our work, and these two events are very important to me. We make sure they look beyond amazing, so people donate a lot of money to these good causes,” says Rusha, who is a firm believer in celebrating milestones and cherishing moments. “Life is too short to be boring.” Throw the party! Wear the sequins! Dance under a disco ball (or 500)!
