Growing up in Leanyer, weekend trips to the Cool Spot Cafe in Fannie Bay were a regular memory. My mum and I would indulge in hot chocolates, milkshakes, ice creams, and chips with gravy, always choosing to sit in the alfresco area. We’d talk for hours about the grand homes along East Point Road, imagining their interiors and the lives of those who lived there. We would daydream while being spoilt with delicious treats, sparking my lifelong love for beautiful homes and hot chocolate.

Fast forward a few decades, and the Fannie Bay Cool Spot remains a beloved family destination. My kids now relish the same delicious flavours I adored as a child.
Open daily from 7am to 10pm, this locally owned and operated, family cafe, offer a mouth-watering menu for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. Many don’t realise they also have an extensive cocktail list in the evenings and one of Darwin’s most popular dessert menu’s, including their famous banana splits, nut sundaes, rocky road and my favourite – their sticky date pudding! And if these don’t tantalise your sweet tooth, they have a huge selection of cakes and slices to compliment their creamy coffees.

LOCAL TIP: Be sure to check their Specials Board on the back wall as Chef’s Kim and Paul and their talented team love to introduce delicious daily specials.
